What Size Should I Order?
We get questions about sizing all the time. And, since there is such a huge difference in sizing between manufacturers, we can understand why. While one manufacturer’s 2T may fit a tall 3-year-old, another might be just right for a small 18-month-old. How do you find the right size, especially in a product like footed pajamas where a size too small won’t work?
First, we have the following recommendations:
– It’s better to buy on the larger size when purchasing footed pajamas. Elasticized ankles (not so tight that they pinch) allow children to wear “roomy” pajamas. If they’re too small, they simply won’t work.
– Check the sizing charts. We are in the process of updating them right now. We should have all of them up by early January. Some manufacturers have provided us with charts; others have not, so we are doing some measuring ourselves. Be sure to check what is being measured. Some manufacturers measure from head-to-toe, others from shoulder-to-heel. If this information is not provided, measurements are from head-to-toe.
– If you are purchasing footed/footy pajamas, take the child’s foot size into consideration. Many children outgrow footed pajamas in the feet first. And no one wants a child with scrunched-up toes. Believe it or not, we’ve had customers return footed pajamas after two months because the big toe is worn out. That’s a sign that the pajamas are simply too small.
– A special note regarding L’Agneau D’Or pajamas. They run VERY small. They are beautiful, but tiny. Choose a size at least two sizes larger than you think you’ll need. If you are shopping for a tall child, choose a size three sizes larger than you would normally.
